Journeyman Shipfitters will perform shipfitting duties in all stages of repair and modernization of US Naval Vessels. Responsibilities to include tacking and fitting of bulkheads, railings, foundations, deck plating and other structural members. Assembles, cuts and grinds metal structural parts to include plates, bulkheads, strong backs, turnbuckles, come-alongs. Aligns parts in relation to each other. Performs layout work according to blueprints or reference lines. Marks location of holes to be drilled, drives wedges and installs temporary fasteners to hold parts in place for welding or riveting. May perform pre-fabrication work inside shop. Performs related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a shipyard environment Must understand the layout of a ship with compartment identification knowledge Must be able to read blueprints and perform layouts Must pass written and hands-on weld tack test: - Tack Test includes: T1 test on Carbon, Stainless and Aluminum - Demonstrate ability to burn with a torch - Each test includes 2G, 3G and 4G positions - Written/Blueprint exam Basic reading, writing and math skills. Previous experience in metal works is an asset. Candidates may be required to travel to different sites or Naval Bases Must be able to use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently Must be flexible to working all shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd) Must have basic shipfitting tools. Must have own transportation Must be US Citizen Must pass drug and background screening and be eligible to obtain a DBIDS badge

Pay is up to $29 per hour with OT available

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee ship repair and maintenance projects for both Navy and commercial vessels. The ideal candidate will act as a manager and administrator by directing, coordinating, and supervising project-related activities, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines, budgets, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as an interface and point of contact with Government project authorities and representatives on technical, project, and administrative issues.
• Manage ship repair and maintenance projects from initiation to completion, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
• Develop project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk management strategies.
• Supervise project operations by planning and directing execution, and monitoring and reporting progress.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and commercial maritime regulations.
• Oversee financial and administrative aspects of the project to meet requirements and budget constraints.
• Monitor and track project progress, identifying and mitigating risks and delays.
• Oversee quality assurance and control processes to ensure repairs meet industry and client standards.
• Manage procurement and logistics for materials and equipment needed for repairs.
• Prepare reports and documentation on project status, financials, and performance metrics.
• Foster a culture of safety, ensuring all team members adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
• Lead and mentor project teams, ensuring clear communication and coordination.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of management and/or supervisory experience, including the overhaul, repair, alteration, and testing of Navy vessels.
• Minimum of 3 years of specialized experience in planning and managing multiple projects in a shipyard environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of U.S. Navy and commercial vessel repair standards and regulatory compliance.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Experience in financial reporting, oral and written communications, interpersonal relations, and managerial techniques.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools.
• PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials preferred.
• Ability to obtain a Government facility security pass.
• Must be able to pass drug screening and work ability screening.
• Ability to travel as required.

Work Environment: This role requires working in shipyard environments, office settings, and occasional onboard inspections. The Project Manager must be able to navigate industrial workspaces safely and comply with all safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and Interpret Blueprints: Understand technical drawings, specifications, and weld symbols to ensure accurate assembly and fit-up. 
• Material Preparation: Clean, grind, and prepare metal components and joints using tools and the appropriate welding procedures. 
• Perform Welding: Execute various welding processes, including MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), to join structural components and piping systems. 
• All-Position Welding: Skillfully weld in all positions, including flat, vertical, and overhead. 
• Equipment Setup and Operation: Set up and operate manual and automatic welding equipment. 
• Safety Procedures: Adhere to all safety protocols, which includes identifying risks, completing Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and working safely in various environments.
